James R. Acord (with Peg) - 1967
History of the Acord Grain Company:
Established by C.R. Acord in the mid 1930's as C. R. Acord Grain Company.
Name was changed to Acord Grain Company in 1962, following the death of Mr.
Acord. The Grain Company suffered two devastating fires. In 1971, the
Feed Mill on the west end of the office burnt to the ground, followed by the
main elevator at the east end of the office burning to the ground in 1972.
Following the 1972 fire, James R. Acord was unable to build back and sold
the property to Earl Clapp and soon became Ashmore Grain Company.
