NEWS FROM THE LIBRARY:

In Spring 2006, the Kansas Community Memorial Library received a LLSAP grant to join LINC, Lincoln Trails’ automation program.  Libraries in Cooperation (LINC) is a regional online card catalog that allows patrons to browse through fifty-two different libraries from one location.  Joining LINC will give patrons access to several new services that will enhance their library experience. Kansas Community Memorial Library patrons will be able to request, renew and borrow items from other system libraries. They will also have access to My Media Mall, an increasing collection of downloadable audio books, e-books and videos available to patrons of online libraries.  These new services should be available to Kansas Community Memorial Library patrons by Fall 2007.

The library was awarded an $1,075 FY2006 LSTA Weed and Feed Grant. This grant allowed the library to update and expand their non-fiction collection in the areas of General Knowledge, Philosophy & Psychology, and Natural Sciences & Mathematics. Funding for this grant was awarded by the Illinois State Library, a division of the Office of Secretary of State, using funds provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), under the federal Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA). Come in and check out the new materials today.
